Can a wig be a work of craftsmanship? Yes, it can, says Tomihiro Kono (河野富広). In a previous interview with Irenebrination, the Japanese hair artist, head prop designer and wig maker compared his wigs to Haute Couture, explaining that, to make them, he uses a "time-consuming handmade process that consists in making a foundation, knotting hair strands into it and colouring, cutting and styling the wigs into any shape. It takes a lot of patience to go through this process, but it's really worth doing it since it can be considered as real couture."

Tomihiro Kono's new volume Personas 111 – The Art of Wig Making 2017-2020 that will be out on 15th March on Konomad Editions
