What will be the most popular trends for 2020? It may be too early to define them, but we can maybe borrow and revamp interesting ideas from the past. Check out, for example, the asymmetrical trend from 1950.
The first image refers to a coat by Lucille Manguin that looks rather classical, but features some intriguing details, in particular a futuristic double rounded collar and two asymmetrical large pockets.
Schiaparelli interpreted the concept instead as an oblique line that created a twist in this coat (that originally came in a vibrant red shade). The four large buttons had a functional but also decorative purpose and the pocket was also another intriguing detail since, as the fastening was moved off-centre, the pocket was strategically repositioned.
Asymmetries could be trends for the new year and decade as well, since they help reinventing classic wardrobe staples through subtly clever changes in the construction of a design.
