Incorporating Luxury: Vintage Rubelli DIY Project

Rubelli fabrics have been widely featured on this site, but another fun post about them won't definitely hurt. This is another Rubelli DIY project, a follow up to my Four Seasons headdress and it moves once again from the small pile of interior design fabrics that inadvertently fell into my hands for free when a shop near my house cleared its stock.

The Rubelli fabrics you see in these pictures come from the "Tea Introduction" collection (circa 1991) and are inspired by Oriental motifs. I reused them to create two panels and decorate a basic sweatshirt in a fun way. So this time there are no intricate inspirations behind this DIY piece, but just a strong will to make something useful and unique, reducing waste – even though the samples of fabrics were quite small, unfortunately just a fraction of the original elaborately marvellous "Tea Introduction" scenes (some of them looked like proper paintings) – while spending very little and ending up at the same time with a casual design that incorporates luxury (connoisseurs know that Rubelli is one of the most important – and expensive – companies of interior design fabrics on a global level).
