This may not be considered as a very summery picture and I completely understand that many animal lovers may not like it, but I couldn't resist posting it all the same since I find it rather amusing.
This is an ad for the September 1968 issue of Italian women’s magazine Domina and shows a model clad in a voluminous fox fur coat, with a fox stole wrapped around her head and wearing black leather gloves and boots.
Fashion-wise the elastic boots are rather interesting, though the huge saucer-like eyes of the model in this picture are my favourite bit since they contrast with the fox stole's slightly crazy look. I find the fox's stare hilarious as it almost seems to be taking around the model with its little funny eyes.
Thanks to photo editing programs and digital images, this would never happen today and the model would probably look skinnier or the fox fiercer if the same photograph had to be taken again for a contemporary magazine. Yet the hilarity of such image would be lost as the fox wouldn't be able to laugh in the face of a fashion world that often takes itself too seriously and that would be a total shame.
