Colourful geometries have been on our minds during this week, so let's continue celebrating them today with a brief and joyful post that looks at two berets by Fortunato Depero.
The berets, in woollen cloth and with embroidered inlays with geometric motifs in bright combinations of colours such as fuchsia and orange, were designed by the Italian Futurist artist in 1929.
His colourful geometries helped Depero becoming a favourite with many fashion designers throughout the decades: his motifs seem for example to be echoed also in some of the printed zigzagging patterns characterising a few designs from Issey Miyake's latest "Pleats Please" collection.
But the colours of these accessories also make us think about Mardi Gras (this year the celebration falls on 16th February, so next week). Most Carnival events and parades have been cancelled all over the world because of Coronavirus, but let's try to stay optimistic even through tough times thanks to the power of graphic patterns in bold and bright shades.
