In yesterday's post we looked at the concept of time. The Coronavirus lockdown has changed our perspective on time, and it has maybe given us more space to think about a series of issues including climate change, pollution, sustainability and, well, timeless fashion.
Because of this global pandemic, quite a few fashion events scheduled for the next few weeks were cancelled and postponed or were relaunched in digital format, while consumers seem to have reshifted their attention on timeless designs.
To ponder a bit about this concept, let's look at this light wool knitted blouse: it certainly looks modern and wouldn't look out of place in an effortlessly elegant collection for modern women. Can you guess the year this picture was taken?
No idea? Well, it was published in April 1957 on Italian weekly Annabella. The magazine suggested to play around with the colours, but to keep it minimal, opting maybe for a white top with dark yellow, gold, navy blue or red stripes or for a coloured top with white stripes.
And for those of you in lockdown who are not too busy smartworking, here's the pattern and a close up of the stitches (basically three-dimensional stripes on a jersey stitch). Enjoy your timeless design!
