The history of fashion is long and very intriguing, especially if you want to discover notions about garment construction and such likes across the centuries. Yet the history of accessories is equally exciting: think for example about timelines in specialised museums or exhibitions focusing on footwear, and going from early Egyptian or Roman sandals to modern stilettos with killer heels.
Now move from the history of footwear and combine it with summer days, crazy colours and relaxing weekends in which you may be able to find the time to craft a new piece for you without breaking the bank and you get...the "2000 Shoes" Necklace.
To make it you can either buy very cheap stocks of doll shoes on the usual e-commerce retailers or, even better, you can recycle doll shoes from second-hand shops and markets (or just look around your house if you have kids or among relatives and neighbours, there's always some gems in dismissed boxes of toys...).
Anchor the shoes with jump rings to the main chain and you're done (please note that the shoes with straps are easier to secure around the chain; for pumps, well, you will have to cut a hole in them with a puncher, I included some in this piece, but you can't see them from the picture).
The final effect of the "2000 Shoes" (after the Big Audio Dynamite's track inspired by Imelda Marcos' personal addiction...) necklace is total fun and very summery, especially if you match it with some vintage shoes from the early '80s (in this case my mum's). Have a lovely weekend!
