Bells are a symbol of Easter: they stopped ringing on the day Jesus died and start ringing again on Easter Sunday to announce his Resurrection.
Schiaparelli employed bells as the decorative elements for two pairs of silk georgette gloves - one black and one white - in 1939 (from the Philadelphia Museum of Art collection).
Despite the gloves belonged to a Fall collection (bells are also Christmas symbols...), they seem very apt for Easter Sunday, their metallic and silk thread embroideries by Lesage and decorative beads and sequins hinting at peace and instantly spreading joy. Happy Easter to all Irenebrination readers!
