We are all focused on the coming Christmas holidays and are currently being bombarded by images about what's fashionable for this festive season. But it's good to slow down a bit, relax and maybe take a step back to the past to see what was en vogue decades ago.
The coat dress in this picture was for example fashionable in December 1955: designed by Jacques Fath, it was characterised by an elongated line and its sculptural details were the key that added to this piece an elegant touch. The coat dress fasted with 8 buttons, located in the lower part of the design. The wide lapels (with an upper section that folded into a fake pocket motif) formed a plunging V-neckline and created a game of correspondences with the angular cuff of the three-quarter sleeves. The piece was matched in this picture with black opera gloves and a scarf, hat and muff in black Persian lamb.
