The rush to the perfect Christmas present is in full swing at the moment and, even though Black Friday and Cyber Monday are by now gone, there is one way to get a great bargain - buy one item and make happy more than just one person. How could this be possible? Well, by supporting a crowdfunding campaign such as the one launched by British fashion designer Jamie Bruski Tetsill.
His award winning Glasgow-based label Shapes of Things Ltd producing gender-neutral clothes for babies and children (but also offering functional capsule collections for grown-ups) has gone from strength to strength since its 2012 launch.
The youngest of five siblings, as a child Jamie Bruski Tetsill was obsessed with art, building, constructing and assembling, and would conjure up his own colourful and unique world in his bedroom. As he grew up, Tetsill injected his passion for art, materials and construction in his fashion, accessories and interior design pieces.
Currently stocked in more than 35 outlets in over 11 countries worldwide and taking part in the most famous childrenswear shows in Florence, Paris and New York, the brand has indeed won the heart of many fans for its fun yet educational take on fashion: garments and accessories include indeed shapes, textures, colours and patterns that help children's coordination and development while promoting creativity in a playful way.
All Shapes of Things collections - from the trademark ones with the eye-catching vinyl appliquéd geometric shapes in bold neon colours and holographic textures to the latest A/W 2017-18 designs inspired by optical illusions and the power of 3D images, have got one main aim - engaging the imagination of kids.
Among the most successful pieces from the new collection there are several colour-in sweaters and T-shirts that help children creating their own fun garments, while developing their sense of style and personality.
Children can colour the pre-printed designs as many times as they want with the washable markers that accompany the tops. The fun can start again after washing the designs.
"Kids are at the heart of our designs and what can be better than encouraging them to learn while exploring their own tastes and unique personalities," says Tetsill.
Tetsill now wants to take Shapes of Things to the next level and has unveiled a crowdfunding campaign to help his label to grow on the international level and change childrenswear through the universal language of shapes, the power of geometry and gender neutrality.
The campaign on Indiegogo currently offers investors and fans limited edition products and packages - from basic sweats and T-shirts for children and grown-ups to luxury experiences such as a screen printing workshops and a break to Mull of Kintyre.
So this crowdfunding campaign seems to be like the perfect opportunity to buy a Christmas present for a dear one, support an independent label and stand out from the crowd, as one of the Shapes of Things mottos says.
