Today is Sunday, a day traditionally associated with soccer in many countries. But what to do if you don't care much about it, but your dearest ones love it and you don't want to disappoint them? Well, make a cool accessory inspired by football with an arty twist about it.
In my case I took Varvara Stepanova's Design for Sports Clothing for a Footballer (1923) sketch and borrowed its geometrical shapes and colours. Then I got some leather leftovers, a couple of nuts and Ikea's Väsentlig's plastic finials for curtain rods designed by Henrik Preutz (they aren't too heavy; sorry Mr Preutz, I know you designed them for more domestic and basic pruposes, but why using them just as finials when you can incorporate them into a necklace?).
The final design is striking and it can be considered as a modular piece since it can be disassembled and reassembled with different pieces of leather to create an entirely different necklace. It also fits in with the arty/geometrical and neo-geo trends that will be popular come next season.
