There are catwalk shows that you can dissect and analyse in different ways and then there's Miu Miu's. The last show of the Paris runways, it usually arrives when all the people in the industry need some rest, as Miuccia Prada highlighted. For the next Autumnal season the designer decided therefore to do something funny by combining together different times and eras (something Miuccia seems to be a master at doing...).
In between short python and crocodile coats in bright colours that played with the real/fake dichotomy while pointing towards the '60s, there were apron dresses with big plastic buttons and frocks and blouses with ample ruffles around the shoulders.
The latter looked slightly reminiscent of apron and pinafore frocks or sundresses from the '40s-'50s with some '80s moods thrown in. You like the idea but you can't afford the look?
Just grab a few vintage patterns, borrow details from pinafore and ruffled dresses and do your own fashion/time collision of different trends using modern fabrics.
After all, if Miuccia can do it, you can do it as well. One last note: don't forget the costume floral earrings and necklaces and remember to cover in copious amounts of glitter some hideous shoes you may find at a vintage shop near you.
