I was pretty lucky to stumble upon more bits and pieces of discarded Rubelli fabric, so I decided to come up with a summer T-shirt (after all, I already did a long sleeved top a few months ago).
The fabric that came into my possession was once again from the "Tea Introduction" collection (from the early '90s, so an example of vintage Rubelli), but in this case the colours were lighter than the ones from the previous scraps.
The Oriental scenes on these fabrics were absolutely stunning and very detailed. I only had one small piece of fabric, so I reused it to make just one panel on the shirt. The colour of choice for the shirt and for some of the details in my picture (blue shirt/fluorescent underskirt - see blue/pink kite) came from a 1991 Rubelli advert that showed the "Tea Introduction" fabric on a beach.
So again, no obscure inspirations behind this DIY piece, but just a way to reduce waste, reuse beautiful fabrics and get something unique for very little. Have a crafty Sunday!
