Hats and collars have been a lot of my mind recently, but necklaces still remain in my opinion, the best way to create a quick showpiece. One of the themes that inspired some of my personal researches in the last few months is light and how we can use it for different applications.
While one of my more complicated projects revolving around light will be revealed in a few weeks’ time, today’s post is dedicated to a very easy project, again inspired by light, but also by reports about financially unstable markets and about our planet being in danger because we produce more things than we actually need.
Reading apocalyptic news makes me wonder how we can come up with something new using no tools, very few cheap materials or things that we may have in the house and that we usually employ for other purposes. All these questions and the theme of light inspired me this necklace made using bicycle wheel reflectors and pieces of black satin ribbon.
You obviously get the best effects out of it when the light hits it in a dark or partially lit environment, but the absolutely best thing about it is that, once you’re tired of it, you can disassemble it and reapply the reflectors to your bicycle frame, using them once again for the original purpose they were designed for. Remember, be bright and cycle safely!
