There is a lot to say about the Haute Couture shows in Paris and there will be time to catch up with all that (in the meantime, many thanks to Riccardo Tisci for taking my passion for Aelita to the masses, but, next time, please credit me...). Let's start taking a quick note of a detail of a Roger Vivier shoe.
The black and white image you see on the left is taken from my personal archive of fashion magazines and in particular from an issue of Grazia magazine from March 1959. The image shows Vivier introducing what the article defines as a "shocking heel" with an iconic and curvaceous shape. The image is in black and white, but the shoes originally came in lilac crocodile.
The image on the right is instead from Vivier's current fourth collection of limited-edition accessories. Again the focus is on the iconic Vivier heel, though creative director Bruno Frisoni turned the curve inside out and added hand-embroidered metallic thread.
