Sometimes being a writer and a journalist has its advantages: for example, you can be in different places at the same time with your writing. While yesterday night I was at the opening of an exhibition in Venice (more about it later), a tiny part of myself (in the form of my notes for a catalogue) was in Rome at the Dal Co' shoe shop where Silvia Dal Co'-Petrucci, grand-daughter of Alberto Dal Co' and manager of the family's company, organised a photographic exhibition with rare images from the Archivio Collezione Marco Garzia for Vogue Fashion's Night Out event.
All the images included - mainly from "La dolce vita" years and featuring famous directors, actors and actresses, from Federico Fellini to Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and Lucia Bosé - hava a timeless uniqueness about them, but there is also a great authenticity in these photographs and almost a sense of craftsmanship, since none of the poses are contrived.
This is also the main reason why the place where the photographs are showcased is simply perfect for this exhibit. Indeed craftsmanship, quality and style have always been part of Dal Co's DNA.
The exhibition will last for another month, so if you happen to be in Rome, please stop by and say hello to Silvia!
