Different aspects of the Bauhaus movement inspired in the past, and continue to inspire nowadays, many fashion and costume designers.
Previous posts in this blog focused on costumes inspired by the Triadische Ballet, competitions based on the Bauhaus’ ideas, theories and designs, and fashion collections including knitwear inspired by the movement’s textile workshop and designs from the recent A/W 10 collections based on the Bauhaus' colours, lines and silhouettes.
For his final year collection, young Italian designer Daniele Gottastia, a student from Rome’s Accademia di Costume e di Moda (Costume and Fashion Academy), created five designs moving from two main inspirations, the colours used in the posters – a mix of white, red, black and orange with just a touch of blue – and the wickerwork employed in the baskets and chairs created by the movement.
You can discover further about Gottastia's collection in my interview with him on Dazed Digital.
