Have you ever dreamt you were somewhere else doing something completely different?
I do it all the time, in fact I think that, quite often, my dreams of escapism are the only things that sustain me through stressful, tiring, depressing or simply useless days.
Today is one of those days when I find myself dreaming of being somewhere else and this is where I would be heading if I could, Supermarket Sarah’s Christmas Extravaganza.
Despite the name, Supermarket Sarah is not a retail store selling groceries and such likes, but an alternative space created by a young creative and Portobello Road vintage stall-holder who decided to set up shop in her own home, based round the corner from the famous London market.
The exclusive pieces on offer – interior design objects, clothes and accessories by contemporary fashion designers and vintage pieces – can also be bought online.
For Christmas, Supermarket Sarah’s famous Walls will be dressed up not in tinsel foil, but in special pieces such as Scott Ramsay Kyle's embroidered designs, Marie Molterer's Bauhaus-inspired designs, Lynn Hatzius,'s collages and illustrations and Peter Ibruegger's ironic mugs and T-shirts, just to mention a few.
If, like me, you won't be able to look around today, don't despair, there will still be time to visit Supermarket Sarah before (or after) Christmas, but if you want, you can try and have a rather entertaining online shopping experience just by selecting the items on the walls and clicking upon them.
Chances are that if you are looking for that infamous special offer, "guaranteed personality", as The Clash sung, you will probably find it here, without even getting lost.
