As follow up to yesterday's post and as a way to get some extra positive vibes (despite the fact that many countries in Europe have issued new strict measures and restrictions to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus over the holidays, while a fast-spreading strain of Covid-19 has also been discovered in the UK…), let's check a vintage advert from the '80s.
The image accompanying this post relates to a Fiorucci advert for Christmas, it features an absinthe green ice lolly shaped like a minimalist Christmas tree with a branded stick. The image, on a bright red background, was accompanied by the words "Buon Natale" – Merry Christmas – in white, so the poster was conceived like a friendly postcard rather than an aggressive branded campaign.
It was a fun and effective idea because it was immediate: rather than using garments and accessories from that specific year, it took a simple symbol – the Christmas tree-shaped ice lolly – and used it to embody all the coolness and freshness of the brand.
