A Summer Inspiration from the ’50s

Cropped tops are quite popular at the moment, and you will easily find a wide range of shirts in such style in multiple colours all over the usual fast fashion chains. If you like the cropped idea, but you don't like the casual style, check out this tunic dress by Dessès from 1950 incorporating a cropped bolero-like top with short sleeves.

The grey dress and the top were characterised by simple and subtly architectural lines, but in this case the three-dimensional white broderie anglaise-like embroideries enriched it in a nice way.

Remember always to check vintage magazines and cutting patterns in markets, libraries and assorted fashion institutions to find intriguing sartorial ideas to borrow and reinvent (note: reinvent, not just lazily copy…).
