In yesterday's post we looked at a textile designer inspired by art, so let's continue the fabric thread today with a recent design by Vlisco with an arty twist about it.

The design is part of the Bright & Beautiful collection and is characterised by a very basic motif of circles.

Yet the circles are transformed into an intriguing hypnotic illusion continuously repeated on the fabric.

The optical illusion is achieved by varying the size of the circle pattern, adding geometrical figures inside the circles (from squares to rhomboid star-like shapes) or by dividing the circles in two parts, and by creating bold juxtapositions of three (or at times four) bright colours.

Available in a variety of combinations, this bold pattern calls to mind Op Art works à la Victor Vasarely
