Fashion Tips from the Past: Bustier Belt Pattern from 1959

If you're a crafty person or if you're just looking for a quick fashion project to make on a Sunday afternoon, leafing through a vintage magazine may provide you with some interesting inspirations.

Here's an example: this is a pattern for a bustier belt from an issue of Italian magazine Grazia from 1959. The belt had a nice feature, two vertical slits around the central area. A ribbon could be threaded through the slits and knotted on the front (and enriched with a flower as shown in the following image or with another decoration). The magazine suggested to make the bustier belt in pink silk satin and use it to revamp a simple monochromatic dress like the white one shown in the photograph. Enjoy!
