Burano Blues

Let's continue the 56th International Art Exhibition thread that started with yesterday's post with another vintage fashion image shot around the Venetian Lagoon. The image is taken from the cover of a June 1959 issue of Grazia magazine that featured a photoshoot set on the island of Burano.

The model in this picture isn't actually wearing any garments relating to the local lacemaking traditions. The photoshoot inside the magazine revolved indeed around colourful day dresses, like the cotton ensemble by Likis donned by the model on the cover and matched with a white and pale blue pearl necklace. The design was characterised by a blue printed motif on white background and grosgrain ribbons delicately highlighting the bust, creating the illusion of wearing separates.
