It's always interesting and educational going back in time and discovering what was fashionable decades ago. On the cover of the Italian weekly Lei dated 27th December 1949 for example two models are donning dresses by Jacques Heim and Jean Baillie. The magazine describes the outfits as simple yet lovely dresses ideal for young women to wear at an end of the year party.

Inside instead there is a sporty model by Schiaparelli, an ensemble consisting in a long skirt matched with a jacket with a tiny diamond motif with oversized pockets that were supposed to be functionally practical and decorative as well.

Fashion evolves constantly, but long skirts are currently quite trendy, so we wouldn't maybe look out of fashion if we opted to wear today something similar to these designs created 65 years ago.
