If you're a textile fan and you're currently planning a not-to-miss Summer calendar of events, add to your diary the Textiles Fair at the American Museum in Bath. The event will take place on 23rd August and it's organised in collaboration with the Bath Textile Summer School.
Textile makers and retailers will meet at the museum where people going to the fair will also be able to visit the exhibition "The Colourful World of Kaffe Fassett" (until 2 November 2014).
Jenny Adin Christie known for her embroidery kits in stumpwork, metal thread and whitework is among the specialists who will join the fair, but enthusiasts will also find a wide range of tools and materials, books and DVDs courtesy of Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn, specialist yarn retailers Jilly Bean Yarns and 21st Century Yarns, and textile artists such as Kate Westcott, while Bristol’s Heart Space Studios will bring a selection of handmade textile pieces.
There will also be the chance to discover retro and vintage textiles and get passionate about lace. To become an expert, you can instead join the first Bath Textile Summer School (18 to 23 August 2014).
Staged in collaboration with the American Museum and the Holburne Museum, its program comprises a series of workshops, days out in Bath with textile-related lecturers and a final celebratory dinner. Looks like you have no excuses this Summer not to become a textile expert.
