If, like me, you were traumatised (albeit in a positive way…) by too many years spent at balllet classes and developed as a grown-up a penchant for 1950s hats, you probably also display a rather psychotic behaviour that prompts you to shout "I want it! I want it!" whenever you see half hats in a vintage shops or ballerina headdresses (of the Swan Lake type…).
With these two obsessions firmly in mind it was easy to know what to do with four tiny bits of Rubelli's "Four Season" fabric (Autumn,Winter, Spring and Summer being symbolised by a floral motif embroidered in different colours) that inadvertently fell into my hands for free when an interior design shop near my house cleared its stock (note: always ask, beg and implore from interior design shops in your area for free bits and pieces of fabrics that they may not need anymore, you never know what may be lurking in their stock rooms…).

What came out of Rubelli's Four Seasons fabric was a Four Seasons headdress (necklaces are indeed just some of the things I like to create) ideal to wear like a half hat or in the style of a ballerina.
The conceptual meaning behind such a piece? Well, the weather is all messed up because of global warming (don't try to deny it…) and we have basically killed our beloved four seasons reducing them to two.

What about trying to restore them by reducing waste, recycling fabric, trying to be more creative and spend less? (note: Rubelli fabrics are among the highest quality fabrics around and I got them for free from a shop that otherwise would have thrown them away, and the hat bases and trimmings cost a fraction of the price if you look for them in the right places such as eBay, so I made myself a new and unique headpiece for less than £12.00…).

As a further inspiration along the same theme I'm going to leave you with Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Have a nice weekend!
