Bright Venetian Shades

There are some costume designers who have amazing theories on Venice and who will tell you that there are specific colours that should be favoured or avoided not only when you shoot a film in Venice, but also when you actually walk around its tiny streets as they simply do not go well with what surrounds you (some critics even claim that no actress should be wearing a red dress on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival as she would end up channelling Benedetto Musso's painting "Doge in Red", risking of being a bit ridiculous…).

I sometimes agree with these theories, but, while walking around Venice, I spotted some bright colours that seemed to go well with the moods of the place (even though I'm sure some costume designers would see them as too bright…): rows and rows of colourful sacks neatly stacked on a boat travelling in the early hours of the morning along the Grand Canal and rows of pigment powder in an art shop.

Since in the last few days all the posts explored architectural themes and as we wait to see who got the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, I'm going to leave you with something less intense for today, some bright colours for the weekend. Hopefully you will find them as inspiring as I did.
