Fans of the fashion and politics connection may be interested to hear that Gianni Versace's brother Santo left Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom party today (just a couple of days ago I mentioned him in a post in connection with Anna Wintour's comments about Berlusconi's government).
Interviewed on Italian radio programme "Un giorno da pecora" on Radio Radiodue, Versace stated this washis present for Berlusconi's 75th birthday and that he had decided to leave the party since he likes working and in the "PdL (People of Freedom party) doesn't need people who work".
His decision came after Versace refused to support yesterday the governing coalition when it rejected a no-confidence motion presented by the centre-left opposition against Agriculture Minister Francesco Saverio Romano, currently under investigation for links to the Sicilian Mafia.
Versace will now take his seat in Parliament in an independent group. Italian speakers can listen to a recording of the programme here or can watch the programme here.
