Tim Parry-Williams on Modern Japanese Traditional Textiles

TimParryWilliams2_byMarcLeGalle Yesterday's post highlighted the connection between Iranian designer Shirin Guild and Japan. So let's move today to Japan to explore the history of traditional textiles and discover how they can inspire us in contemporary fashion with Tim-Parry Williams.

Tim is a senior lecturer and researcher on textiles at Bath Spa University and, as a weaver and curator, he has also been carrying out collaborative projects with Japanese hand weavers (you can check out for example his work for the Through the Surface project here).

During the "Trans/National Clothing Conference" at Bath Spa University, Tim delivered a very interesting lecture on Japanese textiles. Enjoy! (Please note: this is a 5-minute preview of a longer video, so you will have to install Veoh Video Compass to watch the full video in your browser or download it to your PC).
