It still hasn't taken place but the Internet is already chock-a-block with posts about Natalia Vodianova’s White Fairy Tale Love Ball, the fundraiser for her Naked Heart Foundation taking place tonight at Valentino’s Chateau Wideville.
Forty-five special gowns were created by famous designers and fashion houses for the occasion and, during the Russian fairy tale inspired gala, guests will be able to bid for them. Donatella Versace came up with this "unique" kokoshnik dress for the gala.
Shame that it looks like a more wearable copy of her brother Gianni's 1987 gargantuan Matrioska costume in hand-painted silk shantung with embroideries and appliquéd motifs. The costume was originally created for the "Souvenir de Leningrad" ballet, choreographed by Maurice Béjart.
Easy to wonder where the uniqueness, originality and fun of fashion has gone if designers are too busy copying old designs (or how they say "taking inspiration from the archives"…) even when it comes to the creations for a charity gala.
