Fiorucci or Liquid Sky?

I’m not a huge Topshop fan but I went in the other day to check out if they had any items from a collection by a young designer I know who collaborated with them.

While I couldn’t find anything relating to this collaboration and was rather appalled at the bad quality of some of the stuff on sale, I also found the atmosphere of the shop pretty boring.

I already mentioned Fiorucci’s legendary New York shop in a previous post and I wish people behind big chains and stores could inject a bit of genuine craziness and fun into your shopping experience.

Have a look at the following video I found on YouTube that features Joey Arias and theatrical German countertenor Klaus Nomi with a bunch of crazy people and colourful shop assistants dancing in the Fiorucci windows. Is this a shop or the set for Liquid Sky?

So funny- I randomly searched Fiorucci on Youtube yesterday and watched this video marveling at how different it was than anything you would find now. Sadly when they reopened the Fiorucci store on Broadway a couple years ago they forgot to inject any of the fun and spontaneity- no wonder it swiftly disappeared without a trace.
