Anxiety, Style and Fashion in the Millennium Trilogy

Today I'm uploading another video (note: this is a 5-minute preview of a longer video, so you will have to install Veoh Video Compass to watch the full video in your browser or download it to your PC) from the Friday afternoon session of the Fashion in Fiction conference at Drexel University, Philadelphia.

The video features Susain Kaiser (from the University of California)'s lecture about award-winning Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest) by Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson. Kaiser focuses in her talk on the novel's heroine, Lisbeth Salander, and on her look in the book and in the film adaptations.

I read Larsson's books and, actually, I don't agree with his representation of Lisbeth as a strong woman and social outcast, but I think Professor Kaiser makes a few interesting points here that are worth checking out.
