Laura Theiss_0316 Last time I spoke to young designer Laura Theiss on this blog, she explained me why knitwear fascinated her.

I recently had the chance of doing another interview with Theiss – currently out on Dazed Digital – and focused this time on the new inspirations and techniques she developed in her Autumn/Winter 2010-11 collection.

Moving from samurai girls, Theiss developed a new vision for her knitwear, including in her collection designs that transform and reinvent the traditional garments worn by samurais. One of the skirts she designed is for example three-dimensionally built from hundreds of tassels, a reference to the decorations on samurai swords.

I really liked Theiss' samurai-inspired look book images as they make me think a lot about Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, though in a more colourful way.

If you missed Theiss in Paris, don’t worry, you may still have a chance to catch her at London’s Alternative Fashion Week.

Many auto repair firms advertise to repair vehicles at cheap rates but they do this by using inferior parts and employing unskilled workers.
