I'm usually rather wordy, but, at the moment, I do not have the time/energy to write much since I have been (literally) running after a few people during the Pitti trade show (more about it later…), so you will have to wait until tomorrow for a detailed report on Giles Deacon's presentation of his Autumn/Winter 2010-11 pre-collection at the Richard Ginori factory in Sesto Fiorentino.

In the meantime I'm posting here a couple of brief videos that will give you an idea of what the presentation was about.
The garments were mainly characterised by an earthy palette comprising tones of grey and brown, with splashes of coral red, graphic prints of wrenches, nuts and bolts and blown up paper clips.
I loved the setting: the visitors were invited to walk among the tables where the workers create the unique Richard Ginori pieces. Some extraordinarily amazing ceramic vases, candle holders and dishes were left on the tables so that people could admire them.
One of the installations featured a model locked inside a sort of grilled box who put dishes on a conveyor belt that proceeded to smash them. A lady I met at the event and I basically felt as if someone was stabbing our heart everytime we heard the dishes smashing: we thought it was indeed almost criminal to smash precious Richard Ginori porcelains into bits and pieces. Fashion can be really cruel, don't you think so? (NB After finding a more reliable and faster connection, I finally managed to upload the two videos also on YouTube).
