Marimekko Present

Marimekko_2 I love travelling and buying unusual presents (especially rare books…) for myself in unassuming kind of shops, yet I must admit I’m not the greedy type and I love buying presents (when I can afford it) also for family members and friends.

Believe it or not I visited the Marimekko shop in Stockholm’s Norrmalmstorg 4 with a few members of my family in mind and not with myself.

I loved the big shop windows with oversized polka dot stickers and the colourful knitwear in the windows really brought some warmth to my heart, though they didn’t manage to warm up some vital, yet freezing, parts of my body, so I got in to get warmer and try to find a couple of presents.

Marimekko_purse Inside the shop there were quite a few items from Marimekko’s Autumn/Winter collection on sale, such as cardigans and dresses in vividly bright nuances, but also small accessories and items for the house.

Having a somewhat limited budget (that didn’t allow me to buy quite a beautiful yet expensive piece of knitwear) but very good intentions, I settled on a red/fuchsia fabric purse with a nice print of doves and a horse that looks a bit like a Dala horse (I seem to have developed an obsession for Dala horses…so I thought the purse was absolutely irresistible). The purse is not for myself, but for my sister-in-law Elena and I hope she’ll like it as much as I do.
