Trains_1 While wandering around Stockholm’s Arkitekturmuseet I had a sort of strange epiphany – a very apt event since today it’s January 6th, the last day of the Christmas holidays in Italy, also known as Epiphany, during which the manifestation of the divine nature of Jesus is celebrated.

My “epiphany” was more linked to the basic meaning of the word, though, that is the "manifestation" of the essence or meaning of something.

In fact, I think I had a sort of “print” epiphany while standing in front of a train model display part of the MakeWay exhibition at the Swedish Museum of Architecture.

Trains_3 This exhibition tackles issues such as road and rail traffic and people’s mobility and accessibility, exploring themes such as infrastructure, urban development, design, concealment of new roads and railways below ground, cross-border planning and the transformation of traffic flows in the Stockholm region.

In a previous post I explored the possibilities of automotive fashion, but, as soon as I saw this display of colourful train models, I thought it would be interesting to develop a rail inspired print for garments and accessories characterised by dynamic shapes and silhouettes. Don’t you think it would be an exciting idea?
