I have just got an amazing present in the post, courtesy of Andrea, Fashion Director at Zoot Magazine (latest issue is currently out, so try to check it out).
I must admit that when I opened the package I didn't expect to be bedazzled but that's exactly what happened when I opened the little box containing Christian Dior's Cristal Boréal lip gloss pendant.
The pendant features 52 Swarovski crystals, of which 4 are the "Aurore Boréale" stones originally created by Swarovski for Dior in 1955.
In the mid-50s Dior asked Swarovski to design a crystal inspired by the magnificence of Versailles' Galerie des Glaces (Hall of Mirrors) and 18th century opulence. Manfred Swarovski came up with the Aurore Boréale crystal characterised by unique multi-coloured reflections.
For Christmas 2009, Christian Dior Parfums decided to rediscover this special crystal and, collaborating with Swarovski, created the "Crystal Boréal", a luxurious pendant that looks like a crossover between Louis XVI chairs and 18th century brooches.
The pendant contains a crystal effect gloss that creates a sort of iridescent effect on the lips.
I must admit I'm not a great fan of Swarovski's creations (especially the tackiest ones…), but this pendant sparkles in an irresistible way and has also got a special purpose. I usually put on lip gloss or lipstick, then carelessly throw the tube in my bag and end up having to call an archaelogist to find it among the various books, personal documents, notes and assorted other things that perennially fill my bag.
I guess that wearing the gloss around my neck would help me at least finding it in a fraction of a second, besides its shiny iridescent effect is exactly what I need not to get lost in a Stockholm snow shower. Many thanks, Andrea!
