Personal projects, working commitments and a little dose of laziness, prevented me from sending cards to all my loved and dearest ones on time, so I have resorted to phone calls, text messages and email cards this morning.
I will predictably (and unintentionally…) forget someone, so I think I'll be using this space to say Merry Christmas to all my family and friends in style.
I often complain with friends saying I should have been born in another time and another place, maybe the 30s, when women always seemed to wear stylish hats and headgear, and maybe Paris so that I could have met Elsa Schiaparelli and worked for her.
This is why to wish you all a Merry Christmas I have chosen this illustration taken from the contents page of the 15th December 1932 issue of Le Jardin des Modes.
I love the way this minimalist figurine clad in a black coat and accessorised with a fur muff and a chic hat is showing surprise at the presents she finds under the Christmas tree.
Have a Merry Christmas and don't worry if you don't get the same amount of presents the stylish woman portrayed in Le Jardin des Modes gets: remember, Christmas is definitely not about presents but about spending time with your dearest ones. Have a wonderful day wherever you are!
