It’s a purple coloured day in Rome at the moment.
Since the early morning hours crowds of people have been arriving to join in the No-B Day (No Berlusconi Day) demo that started in the afternoon moving from Piazza della Repubblica.
The event is unique since it was not organised by a political party but by ordinary people, Italian citizens who can’t stand Berlusconi (and what he stands for) anymore and are asking the Italian Prime Minister to resign.
Since Berlusconi – so far the greatest anomaly ever created in Italy – decided to get into politics the country has indeed been violated, raped, offended and humiliated by a man only interested in saving himself from justice and in bending the Italian Constitution and the legal system to his own needs.
Recent allegations of his connections with the Mafia augmented the disgust many Italian citizens (me included) feel against this man who has so far ruined the reputation of the country he is leading on a national and international level.
Tax fraud, false accounting and complicity in conspiracy with the Sicilian Mafia are just a few of the reasons Italians want him out.
I personally want him out for many reasons, among them also contributing in lowering the degree of culture in my country and in helping spreading a demented macho culture that ensures women are seen by men as prostitutes ready to go to bed with anybody to obtain jobs and other assorted favours.
Purple was chosen as the colour of today's protest, but, not owning anything in this colour, I went for my lilac Jil Sander scarf. Berlusconi Out Now!
