If you travel a lot, especially by plane, you've probably been subjected to the 'have you got any liquids with you' question hundreds of times.
The new safety regulations and restrictions on what passengers can bring with them on a plane have probably driven many of us up a wall during the last few years: I often witnessed tragicomic scenes at Italian airports were passengers with roughly 2ml of perfume left in an old 120 ml bottle were requested to throw it out since the bottle was above 100ml. "But there is just a small quantity left in the bottle," the passenger protested. "But the bottle is marked above 100ml and that's not allowed," the police remarked, throwing out the bottle.
I'm not sure if Silvia Gavina who launched the Via.gg.IO beauty care line in 2004 stumbled in as many tragicomic scenes as I did while queuing up at airports, but I guess that the need of many travellers for essential yet luxurious beauty products was the main inspiration behind Gavina's line.
"Viaggio" means in Italian "Journey", but the spelling used for Gavina's beauty line indicates also something else: indeed "Via.gg.IO" stands for "Way (through life)" (Via); time passing day by day ("gg" means indeed "dd") and "I" (Io), that is self-awareness.
Minimising weight and size and guaranteeing consistency in dosage, Gavina came up with a series of skin, body and hair products – including make-up remover, cleansing face and day/night creams, lip softening balms, mini towels, shower gels, shampoos and conditioners – in airless dispensers that prevent air contamination, laminated pouches with re-saleable spouts and mono-dose capsules.
The Via.gg.IO products – currently available in various box set combinations and refillable packages from lifestyle boutiques (such as British Box in Milan), design hotels and selected airlines and gyms (and soon to be available online) – were created in collaboration with international selected laboratories, respecting natural principles and blending the purest ingredients while following one philosophy, consume less and better.
I find Gavina's beauty line really useful not only for compulsive travellers, but also for people with a hectic lifestyle who don't have much time to pamper themselves.
My only worry is that, if more and more travellers adopt products from the Via.gg.IO line, I will see fewer tragicomic scenes involving passengers and police forces at airports. Well, I guess I can actually live without them.
