While searching for a lost document on my computer I found this image of an old fashion photo shoot moodboard I had forgotten about. I did it a long time ago for a magazine I used to collaborate with that closed down.
It was a Commedia dell'Arte inspired photo shoot, hence the random references to Elsa Schiaparelli. There was a subtle subtext to this photo shoot: the protagonists of the Commedia dell'Arte were stock characters and their attributes were clearly outlined by their masks, costumes, walk and mannerism.
For this photo shoot models – wearing costumes inspired by the Commedia dell’Arte but actually created using contemporary clothes and accessories – had to impersonate a character and try to evoke through their poses and gestures the main attributes of that particular character.
The photo shoot never happened in the end as the mag closed down for financial problems, but it would have been fun to see the results.
